General Information
Attire

Dress in the Caymans is casual, so bring light summer attire for days and tropical resort wear for the evenings. As for ties, they are seldom necessary, and the only suit you need is your bathing suit. But be sure to wear it; nudity is prohibited.

Exchange
The Cayman Islands dollar (CI$) is on a fixed exchanged rate. $1.00CI = $1.25U.S. While international currency can be exchanged at local banks, the U.S. dollar is accepted throughout the Islands.

Please be aware that a 10% government tax is added automatically to your accommodations bill, and it is often customary for a 15% charge to be added to your restaurant bill.

Entry Requirements
To enter the Cayman Islands, U.S. and Canadian citizens do not need vaccinations and passports. All that's required is a return ticket and either a passport, birth certificate or a voter's registration card accompanied by a photo I.D. Resident aliens living in the U.S. must show their permanent residency cards and their return tickets. All visitors 12 years of age and older are required to pay a $10. (U.S.) departure tax when leaving the Cayman Islands.

Medical Facilities
The Cayman Islands has a variety of modern medical facilities on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, including government operated hospitals on both islands as well as private medical centers on Grand Cayman.

Getting Around
Reliable taxi service is available throughout the Islands, as are half-day and full-day guided tours. The great part about choosing one of these tours is meeting friendly Caymanians and seeing the Islands through the eyes of someone who not only lives here, but loves it here.

If you choose to venture out on your own, car and jeep rentals are available on all of the Islands, and you will find an abundance of motorbike, scooter and bicycle establishments located throughout Grand Cayman. To legally drive a motor vehicle, your rental agent will issue you a temporary Cayman Islands driving permit. Obtaining this permit requires that you pay a small fee and show a valid driver's license. For your safety as well as ours, please remember that as a British Crown Colony, we drive on the left side of the road.
